According to the Japan Paper Association, the total value of the pulp and paper industry in 2010 was 7.1 trillion yen and in 2011, Japan was the world’s third biggest manufacturer of paper and paperboard after the USA and China. However, the production of paper and paperboard in Japan has decreased significantly since 2008 onwards.
